Split STL and 3MF models into printable parts
Multipart3D is a free browser tool to split STL and painted 3MF models into printable parts. Cut a 3D model, add connectors, and export meshes for your slicer. No signup, no install, and no file uploads.
Cut STL files online without CAD
Slicers prepare a print. They rarely let you reshape the mesh. If a download from Printables, MakerWorld, or Thingiverse is too large for the build volume, needs fewer supports, or should print in separate colors, you should not need Blender or CAD for a short cut.
Multipart3D cuts meshes in the browser with planar cut, area cut, dovetail joints, and smart detach to peel a clicked feature. Export STL or 3MF parts and slice them in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, or Cura.
Why split a 3D model before printing
Oversized geometry is only one reason to split a 3D model. Makers also cut prints to:
- Fit a helmet, prop, or terrain piece on a 180 to 256 mm bed
- Print overhangs as separate parts with a flat base and fewer supports
- Stand a face or logo upright for cleaner layer lines
- Print colors or materials as separate parts
- Align layer direction with load so functional parts are stronger
- Isolate a fragile piece so a break is a reprint, not a whole model
A build-volume overlay shows whether the parts will fit your printer before you commit the cut.
Dovetail joints and connectors that lock parts together
A split is only useful if the parts assemble. After a cut you can place dowels, plugs, snap-fits, pin holes, and magnet connectors on the mating faces, with tolerances aimed at FDM printers. Dovetail cuts put interlocking teeth in the seam so large props and cosplay pieces self-align instead of sliding on a flat glue face.
Split painted 3MF by color on your device
Import painted 3MF from Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, and PrusaSlicer. Color-separate (beta) detaches a painted region so you can print multi-color and multi-material parts without painting the mesh twice. Loading, cutting, and export all run in the browser tab. Files never leave your device. See how privacy is built into the tool.
